In the mid 90's I quit a safe job ...

In the mid 90's I quit a safe job as Business Development Manager in a German global logistics firm in Hong Kong.

Everyone calls me crazy, at the time.

This move never stopped teaching me some valuable lessons.

The following happened :

- Formulated for myself big dreams of independence and solid revenues
- Found by myself what I really wanted to do
- Discovered - at last - what I love doing vs what I am not good at
- Developed crucial skills like market research (still ongoing... btw)
- Opened up several markets in Asia for French SME's exporters (from Korea to Indonesia)
- Then...
.. realized that my dream of being an agent for foreign exporters let me broke ! 🤔

Round two:

- Restarted all over again on more solid ground
... and traded my experience above for ...
- Knowing "really" what I am good at : Transmitting experience and know-how
- Learned quite a few additional "new" skills in the process, based on my own self-development and business experience
- Realized the importance of developing several streams of income
- Developed a passion for the magic that communication skills have not just on business but any collaborative experience !
- Through the contacts of my clients, developed another passion for
technology while preserving the elegance of human communication.

In conclusion :
✅ Having stayed in a global firm could have been OK, but it was obviously
not meant to be. There was far, far, more to discover elsewhere.

My big lesson :
✅ If entrepreneurship is about trading security and predictability for
freedom, there is no way I regret my initial move to quit a comfortable
job
as it made me who I am now : Alert and always curious.

What about you ?
Are you presently in the right environment ?
Have you explored all your strengths ?

By the way :
There is no such thing as "waiting for better times" to make a move,
because transition periods like the one we are experiencing now, are ideal
to try new things.
