What about the real "you" ?

Along the way, I've discovered numerous ways to engage audiences ranging from 15 to 200 people.

In the context of a business presentation, a formal speaking style has
often been expected to project a "professional image" that conveys
respectability and, consequently, credibility.

While this approach may seem straightforward, audience expectations have
significantly evolved over the past decade, reflecting a greater sense
of maturity.

Today, audiences seek reality, honesty, and authenticity,
valuing an informal decorum that brings genuine connection. They want to hear
the real speaker, much like having a conversation with him or her at a
bar corner.

This raises a crucial question for presenters: How do I express my authentic self ?

Where do I draw the line between what is acceptable and what may be less desirable ?

This is no easy task; much is at stake, here. The potential outcomes are clear: acceptance or rejection.

While the rewards of acceptance can be substantial, the repercussions of rejection can be quite unpleasant.

Over the last 5 years, how much has your own speaking style evolved ?
-

Different coaches have different ways of guiding their clients regardless of their professional backgrounds :

- Innovation / Technology
- Finance, hedge funds, venture capital, crypto-currencies
- Education
- Government departments
- Traditional industries

My own perspective consists mainly in :

- Listening attentively to my client
- Finding my client's blind spots (we all have those)
- Working on that
- Never letting them down

Then everything falls into place.
-

I was invited yesterday to a Toastmasters club to share how Toastmasters has influenced my
professional life. During the discussion, a question came to mind:

What is the main impact CEOs are seeking when they step on stage?

Is it more about:
A) Building credibility
B) Strengthening the connection between their business and their audience
C) Enhancing their ability to persuade and influence

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Through a recent discussion with an engineer, I discovered how presentation skills
improve project stakeholders adoption essentially by :

📐 Enabling clear, compelling communication that aligns project goals with stakeholders' objectives

📐 Effective presentations conveying the value of the project in ways designed to match stakeholders' priorities

📐 Helping them see the benefits relevant to their concerns

📐 Storytelling and data visualization making the message memorable and persuasive.

📐 Transparent communication with regular updates building trust and maintaining stakeholders' confidence

These points make stakeholders feel valued and involved, which increases
their commitment to the project's adoption and success.

Do you know these 3 enemies ?

Do you recognize these 3 handicaps in your business presentations ?

➡️ The fear of upsetting the audience causing you, the speaker, to hold
back, reducing your authenticity and conviction. Avoiding addressing
important points or questions, that will undermine trust and engagement.

➡️ A lack of metaphors that reduces your ability to make complex ideas relatable, convincing, original and more attractive.

➡️ A monotonous voice that drains energy and attention. Vocal variety
isn't cosmetic, it's the wire that conveys your message. Poor wire means
poor reception.

Together, these 3 factors often found in real life business presentations cost time and
money as they fail to attract, persuade, and ..... sell your ideas or
products.

I can attest that speaking effortlessly before any audience is highly effective for making
new connections, both in professional and personal spheres.

Professionally:

📌 Presenting a company, product, service, or project effectively attracts attention and potential partnerships.

📌 It enhances your position at the workplace and creates a valuable aura
around you, providing greater opportunities for visibility and
connections.

Personally:

▶️ Accepting opportunities to speak at clubs or social gatherings can lead to many chances to make new friends and connections.

▶️ The best way to embrace these opportunities is to adopt a playful approach and not take yourself too seriously.

Viewing every public speaking opportunity as a chance for personal sharing is
the best way to enjoy the exchange and fulfill the audience’s
expectations.

If you're tasked with writing a speech for:
- Your staff
- Presenting your company to clients and potential partners
- Addressing attendees at a conference
- Speaking to members of your federation

What should be your initial concerns?
* How to start?
* What are your main points ?
* How to add a touch of humor ?
* How to conclude effectively ?

The list could indeed be quite extensive.
Here are my two initial recommendations :

👉 Clarify the objectives of your speech: What outcome do you wish to achieve?
👉 Speak the language of your audience: This means understanding and reflecting their perspectives and communication style.

With these considerations in mind, your speechwriting process will become much easier.

Do You Seriously Think I am Replaceable by AI ?

To clarify, I would like to speak not only for myself but also on behalf of all my fellow
coaches who assist individuals in reaching their goals.

From the outset, I want to emphasize that competent coaches are not, as of
2025, replaceable by AI, despite the discussions among AI professionals.

Why is this the case?

The answer is straightforward. A client seeking a coach expects:

👉 A personalized approach tailored to help them achieve their specific goals, whatever they may be.
👉 To be heard by a real person.
👉 To engage in meaningful conversations with that person.
👉 To feel valued and guided by this individual, not by a "persona."

✅ Moreover, a skilled coach can identify a client's primary needs within the first 60 seconds of their initial conversation.

How many dozens of pages of questionnaires would an AI need to begin understanding who you are ?

✅ Additionally, throughout the coaching process, total confidentiality is a fundamental principle.

Can this truly be the same with AI ?

Who's your Chief Growth Officer

The first time I asked a friend working in a tech company, "Who’s your Chief Growth Officer (CGO)?"

He looked at me as if I had asked, "Who’s your guru?"
With wide eyes, he replied, "My what ?"

The emergence of the CGO role came from the recognized need for more aggressive growth within the tech sector during the 2010s.

Typically, the responsibilities of a CGO encompass:
- marketing
- sales
- product development
- and brand building

Since the CGO’s role bridges gaps between departments, a communication coach
can train not only the CGO but also marketing and sales teams, as well
as product teams, in collaborative communication techniques such as :

- active listening and conflict resolution.

This training fosters a growth-oriented culture and enhances teamwork.

To strengthen leadership communication, the coach can assist in crafting
clear, persuasive messaging that resonates both internally with teams
and externally with customers, investors, and partners to support
various initiatives.
